BF2 Tips, Tweaks, and Hints

So this is the start of a thread to compile all known information that will help each of us tweak our game. NOTE: ALL COMMANDS ARE CASE-SENSITIVE!

Use the in-game console
- Use the '~' key to bring up the in-game console
View your FPS
- From the console enter:
  - renderer.drawFps 1
Switch positions in vehicles
- Use the F1-F6 keys to switch your position inside a vehicle. F1 is the driver position.
Modify your controls
- I found this link that comprehensively breaks down the entire control configuration file

Pickup mines
- Use the wrench to pick up mines as an engineer.
Remove the demo intro
- Change to the directory C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2 Demo\mods\bf2
- Edit the file Init.con and insert rem followed by a space in front of all lines in the file. For example:

Modify your resolution
- Use this shortcut to change your in-game resolution. This example uses 1280x1024 resolution:
  - Right-click the BF2 demo shortcut and modify the shortcut link by quoting the executable name and then adding the following options:
    - "bf2.exe" +menu 1 +fullscreen 1 +szx 1280 +szy 1024

Cool, does anyone know how to spawn on ur squad leader? Also I forgot how to switch spawn points after you die.

Best squad IMO worked killer this morning for fast flag takes.

2 Sf
1 assualt
1 Med
1 Anti Tank
1 Support.

2 Jeeps if you can get em or 1 jeep 1 lav.

The rest is history. We consistantly had all 3 US beach flags within 5-7 min of the start of the game. Starting from the center MEC base. The rest is history. A good commander can make all the difference showing enemy troop movements and key supply drops. Art was very rarely used at all.

To spawn on squad leader, hit "enter" to bring up spawn map and click on the green circle (it is green and red that means he is in a vehicle and ya can't spawn on him if there isn't room).

To switch spawn points hit "enter" and choose from the available spawns.

I was messing with the joint strike fighter last night and I kept accidently ejecting. If you use 'S' for vertical takeoff you have to immediately jump to 'W' to get some forward momentum, but kept hitting 'E' instead. So it may be a good idea to move the enter/exit vehicle to something else.

I had 2 hard lockups Saturday night, and numerous problems with the server browser list. If you are looking for a particular server that list can be infuriating. I hope they fix that thing. :boohoo:

I kept ejecting when I'd go from bombs to missles (default toggle "F" key)....id go to switch and end up falling out of the plane.....then slapping the keyboard frantically for the parachute. I left Kno44 to ride the plane all the way into the ground like a friggin dart. :boohoo: (sorry Kno).
Sonic, if you hit left shift right after you start to go forward you hit the after burners and it's not so unstable till you get up to speed.

I got 2 mics and it isn't using the one I want it to.

hmm ok guys...i got a tip for ya...i foundout how u can control the parachute its kinda like if u were trying to walk on air...u get me? with W,S,A,D......u can steer u can get better steering if ur really up high tshirt
